pms symptoms before implantation

Would I get PMS symptoms before implantation?

Question: I have a regular 28 day cycle and usually ovulate day 14. I suffer badly with PMS from about day 16 to day 28. If I were pregnant, would I still experience my PMS symptoms up to the point of implantation? I am confused and frustrated as every month I get bloating, cramping, sore breasts from about day 16 of my cycle. Thanks

Answer: Yes you could and would still get it. The thing that causes pms is the sudden change in hormones after ovulation (when progesterone takes over). This makes you all hormonal and gives women their PMS. If you don't get pregnant then progesterone drops at the time of your period and normality is restored. If you do get pregnant though then HCG (the pregnancy hormone) caused the corpus luteum to keep up it's progesterone production meaning you could suffer with PMS even longer than usual. Saying that though, pregnancy hormones alter things a bit too so some women calm down, others get worse than usual and some are the same as always. In other words having PMS doesn't mean you are or aren't pregnant. It just means you're post ovulation. Good luck!

PMS symptoms before Implantation occurs?

Question: Afternoon, I have expressed my situation a few times now, but it seems that they aren't posting my questions for some reason. I am curious to know if you can suffer from PMS symptoms BEFORE implantation has occured. My boyfriend and I are trying to conceive, and my last menstrual cycle started August 2nd, with a predicted ovulation date of August 17/18. We had unprotected sex on August 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17th. Now, I am still 9 days from my next cycle, but I am experiencing lower abdoman cramping, sore and tingly breasts, itchy nipples, tired a bit, discharge (although not heavy white), some headaches, and a bit of dizziness. I know that PMS symptoms can start 2 weeks before your period starts. I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I am only 5-6 dpo now, and still well over a week before my next cycle is supposed to start. Can I be suffering from PMS? Should I just give up hope now? Has anyone experienced this before and has ended up pregnant? Thank you in advance.

Answer: Yes, your symptoms might be due to PMS. It also might be due to pregnancy. It's waaaaay to early to tell. Of course you should never give up until your period shows up! Who knows, this might be your month, and it's different for everyone. Right now, you're not experiencing symptoms of pregnancy, just the effects of regular post-ovulatory hormones that happen whether or not you've achieved pregnancy. Try to wait it out and not to read so much into every little twinge, which I know from plenty of experience is difficult, if not impossible. I was weepy (unusual for me) at 4dpo, my boobs hurt more and more as the two week wait went by, I had cramping 3 or 4 days before I expected my period. I thought I'd take a test just to see what it said at 12dpo, and I was pregnant. I'd had the same exact symptoms many, many times before only to have my period. Good luck, and baby dust.
