What can cause mild period cramping 3 DPO? Can implantation occur this soon?

Question: I have had mild peiod cramps that come & go all day. My normal Menstral cramps are stronger & I have to take motrin to make the cramps go away. These cramps are mild & remind me of the cramping I felt with my last pregnancy....thing is I'm only 3 dpo. Can implantation happen this early?

Answer: It can, I had implantation cramping 2-3 dpo and was indeed pregnant. Take the test in about 11 days. Also, motrin is generally NOT considered safe for pregnancy as it can cause birth defects. If you need something for pain, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is the only pain medication recommended as safe for pregnancy, so I recommend taking that unless you are otherwise contraindicated.
